FAQs

Q: How old does my dog need to be to get their first groom?

A: The sooner the better, it’s recommended to start the grooming process/introduction at an early age of 3-4 months old to ensure your pet becomes comfortable.

Q: How long does grooming take?

A: Small dogs take about 1 1/2 to 2 hours.  Medium-Large dogs take 2-3.  Extra large dogs take 3-4 hours.  Every appointment time is based off of each individual dogs haircut needs so times may vary.

Q: How often should I get my dog groomed?

A: Every 4-6 weeks is recommended. The fluffier and more detailed the haircut you want the sooner you will need to come in. The life cycle of the skin and coat is 21-28 days so that’s also something else to take into consideration especially if there are skin issues present.  Or even in regards to humans that have allergies.  The cleaner the skin the less dandruff, dry skin and allergens to come off.

Q: Do you groom all dogs?

A: All dogs of all sizes and breeds are welcome

Q: What products do you use?

A: Products I use are iGroom, Hydra, Ive St Bernard, Best Shot,  Biogroom and Hyponic, So Posh.  If you have any personal allergies, please inform your groomer as the products may contain certain allergens to humans i.e lavender

Q: How often should I cut my dogs nails?

A: Every 4 weeks at the minimum, but if your dogs nails are really long and you’re looking to really get them to recede in length it’s recommended to come ever 2 weeks until the desire length is reached. Inside the dogs nails are the “quicks” which are comprised of blood vessel and nerve endings, once those become exposed to oxygen the tips die and there for stop growing. It’s important to keep exposing while the quick is exposed in order to get the nail to shorten.  So if you only trim them once evert 2-3 months you may not see a noticeable difference in length.
